Minor injuries after school bus flipped near Ada-Canyon county line
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a charter-school bus flipped onto its side west of Meridian.
At around 7 a.m. Friday, deputies responded near the Ada-Canyon county line to the crashed bus, which was in a ditch at the intersection of West Ustick Road and North McDermott Road, according to Ada County Deputy Emily Walker, a spokesperson for the agency.
There were nine minors and one adult on the bus, which was operated by Compass Charter School, a public K-12 in Meridian, Walker said.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident and only minor injuries were reported, Walker said. All of the children were evaluated at the scene and released to their parents or guardians, she said, adding that one of the minors was privately taken to a local hospital.
It’s unclear where the bus was headed, and Walker deferred to the charter school for that information. Compass is located off of North Black Cat Road in Meridian, which is 3 miles away from the crash. North McDermott Road was briefly closed while the bus was removed from the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
