Officials closed a section of Idaho Highway 21 near Stanley following a rockslide.

The Idaho Transportation Department announced the closure on Tuesday morning, saying the rockslide had happened overnight.

The 21-mile closure stretches from about Sourdough Lodge in Lowman to Banner Summit, according to an ITD news release. The department said it did not know when the roadway would be ready for reopening.

“Crews are at the site of the slide assessing conditions and damage and preparing a plan for cleanup,” ITD said. Drivers can find the latest on closures and delays on the Idaho 511 website.
