Update: Girl dies after being hit by pickup truck in Boise’s North End
A young girl died Tuesday evening at a Boise hospital after being struck by a pickup truck at a North End intersection earlier in the day.
The Boise Police Department said late in the afternoon in a post on X that a pedestrian was hit near the corner of Harrison Boulevard and Ada Street, and said the juvenile had injuries that appeared to be life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital.
In a news release Tuesday night, police said the girl died as a result of the accident, which occurred a little after 4:30 p.m. The Ada County Coroner’s office will release the girl’s identity after next of kin are notified.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a pickup and the girl were both headed west on Ada Street when they stopped at the intersection with Harrison Boulevard, according to the release. The girl and the pickup both entered the intersection, and as the truck was turning right on to Harrison, it hit her.
Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, but she died a few hours later.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare, and tonight our hearts go out to the victim’s family, friends, and her community at large,” Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison said in the release. “Boise Police will release additional information as the investigation develops.”
Harrison Boulevard was closed from Sherman Street to Resseguie Street as police investigated, but it has reopened, police said.
