Boise business ‘pretty much destroyed’ after vehicle crashes through storefront
A vehicle crashed into a locally owned store in downtown Boise on Friday afternoon and caused destruction, forcing its closure for the foreseeable future.
At about 3 p.m., the Boise Police Department was dispatched to Modern Apothecary, located next to the WinCo between Myrtle and Front streets at the corner of 2nd Street.
One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but it wasn’t reported whether that was the driver of the vehicle, which looked like an SUV.
The store’s security footage, which was posted on the Modern Apothecary Instagram page, captured the incident. The video showed a red vehicle smashing through the store’s front glass windows and door, and plowing into merchandise set up on tables.
Miranda Adnan, the owner of Modern Apothecary, told the Idaho Statesman that she was standing behind the counter when she saw a car “barreling” toward the storefront. She said she quickly stepped aside.
“I was lucky I didn’t get hurt at all,” Adnan said. “I don’t know how I didn’t get hurt.”
Adnan said the crash “pretty much destroyed” her store, which she opened just over a year ago to sell sustainable, cruelty-free and locally made products.
“I put everything I have into this store, and my customers, they know me, I am the only one here,” Adnan said.
She said many customers and bystanders came by to check on her, and also thanked people for expressing support online. Adnan said she doesn’t know what will come next, but the store will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
