Woman dies in one-car crash on Interstate 84; young passenger airlifted

A single-vehicle crash in Elmore County left one person dead and another hospitalized Sunday night.

A 46-year-old Nampa woman was driving a pickup truck west on Interstate 84 at about 10:50 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned before coming to a rest in the eastbound highway lanes, the Idaho State Police said in a news release.

The driver died from her injuries at the crash scene near milepost 80, northwest of Mountain Home, according to police.

First responders transported a juvenile passenger to a local hospital by air ambulance, the release said.

Officials closed I-84 for about an hour while the scene was cleared.

Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
