I-84 in Caldwell closed for construction twice this week. Here’s the info
Planning to drive through Caldwell on Interstate 84 this week? If you’re a late-night, early-morning traveler, expect a detour.
Parts of westbound I-84 between Franklin Road and Centennial Way will be fully closed construction Wednesday and Thursday between midnight and 5 a.m. The Idaho Transportation Department said the closure is necessary so crews can install new overhead signs.
ITD is asking drivers to slow down, pay attention and follow the posted detour signs that are part of the ongoing I-84 corridor improvement project, which is expected to be finished in 2027.
Wednesday morning
The westbound interstate will be closed between Franklin Road and 10th Avenue interchanges. Motorists will need to take Exit 29, the Franklin Road westbound off-ramp, to Blaine Street, and then travel west before re-entering the interstate with the 10th Avenue westbound on-ramp.
Thursday morning
All westbound lanes of the interstate will be closed between the 10th Avenue and Centennial Way interchanges.
Motorists will be redirected to take Exit 28, the 10th Avenue westbound off-ramp, to Illinois Avenue, where they will travel to Madison Street and then to Centennial Way on-ramp to the interstate.
