Coroner identifies Boise man killed in 4-vehicle Nampa crash

Officials have released the name of the man who died in a four-vehicle traffic accident west of Nampa.

A man driving an SUV west on Interstate 84 struck a westbound pickup truck near mile marker 32 while attempting to change lanes at about 6:06 p.m. July 31, Idaho State Police said in a news release.

The truck collided with a cement barrier in the median, and the SUV overcorrected by driving into the eastbound lanes, according to police. The SUV then struck a second pickup truck head-on, causing a van to also hit the truck.

The SUV driver died from his injuries at the scene.

The Canyon County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the man as David Richardson, 57, of Boise. The Coroner’s Office said in a release that Richardson sustained blunt force injuries from the accident.

Police said a juvenile passenger in the SUV and a 59-year-old Star woman in the van were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The highway was blocked for about four hours as responders helped those involved and cleared the scene.

Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
