Crash north of Boise leaves motorcycle driver dead, another hospitalized

A vehicle accident north of Boise left a motorcyclist dead and another driver hospitalized on Sunday afternoon.

A 23-year-old Caldwell man was driving a motorcycle north on Idaho 55 when he crossed the center line at about 3:30 p.m., south of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho State Police said in a news release.

He collided with an SUV driven by a 45-year-old man from Idaho City in the southbound lane, the release said.

Police said the motorcycle driver died from his injuries at the scene. The SUV driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, police said.

Officials have not released the name of the deceased.

The crash caused a small brush fire to break out, according to police.

The roadway was closed for more than three hours after the accident as emergency responders, including the Idaho State Police, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Horseshoe Bend Ambulance, Acute Rescue and Transport and Boise County Sheriff’s Office, worked at the crash site.

Idaho State Police is investigating the incident.
