Police reopened a roadway after drivers were asked to steer clear of an area in West Boise for much of Sunday afternoon.

Law enforcement wanted drivers to avoid Overland Road west of Cloverdale Road “due to police activity,” the Boise Police Department said in an 11:28 a.m. social media post. Officers diverted westbound traffic in that area.

Boise police spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman by email that Overland Road reopened at 2:42 p.m.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said the closure was caused by a fleeing suspect. The suspect drove down Interstate 84 for seven miles before fleeing on foot and hiding in an outbuilding near Overland Road, according to law enforcement.
