Boise man killed in three-vehicle crash at Canyon County intersection

A three-vehicle crash in Canyon County left one person dead on Saturday morning.

A 59-year-old Boise man driving a Ford Escort west on Riverside Road failed to stop at the Idaho Highway 55 intersection west of Nampa, just north of the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, the Idaho State Police said in a news release.

Police said his car collided with a Toyota pickup truck heading north on the highway at about 11:19 p.m.

The Boise driver died from his injuries at the scene, according to police.

A 29-year-old Greenleaf woman who had been a passenger in the Ford Escort, along with a 47-year-old man and 50-year-old woman from Washington, who were in the truck, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.

A 23-year-old Texas woman in a third vehicle swerved off the roadway in an attempt to avoid the collision, police said. She was uninjured.

Police said the intersection was closed for more than two hours while first responders provided assistance and cleared the scene.

Idaho State Police is investigating the incident.
