Project to replace Idaho 21 bridge in Lowman set to begin. Expect delays
Motorists can expect delays on Idaho Highway 21 this spring and summer as work begins to replace the bridge over the Payette River in Lowman.
The initial phase of the project starts next week and will include reconstructing the road next to the bridge, according to an Idaho Transportation Department news release. Demolition of the bridge’s north half will begin in July, with traffic reduced to a single alternating lane until November 2025. A temporary traffic signal also will be installed, ITD said.
The project won’t be completed until spring of 2027, ITD said, and that’s a strategic move to allow traffic to keep moving and to reduce environmental impact in the area.
