Coroner identifies Meridian motorcyclist who died in three-vehicle accident Monday

Officials have released the name of a Meridian man who died when his motorcycle was involved in an accident Monday.

Police responded to a crash involving the motorcycle and two vehicles at 1 p.m. near the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and North Venture Street, according to a Meridian Police Department news release.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday that it pronounced Connor Hawkins, 26, dead at the scene at 2:25 p.m. The coroner listed Hawkins’ cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries and the manner of death as accidental.

The Meridian Police Department said it “extends our condolences to those affected by this incident.” It is still investigating the crash.

One of the drivers was pulling out of a Walmart parking lot in Meridian when a wide turn caused Hawkins to swerve and lose control, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser created by his family. In the post, Hawkins’ wife pleaded for people not to drive while distracted and to “ALWAYS” be on the lookout for motorcyclists.

Hawkins’ wife in the post described her husband as “one of a kind.” His family is asking for help raising $10,000 to help with funeral expenses and everyday costs for his wife and two kids, according to the post.

“His death leaves a gaping hole in our hearts,” according to the post.
