Treasure Valley woman struck, killed while walking on highway. Driver hospitalized

A Canyon County crash left one person dead and another hospitalized Sunday morning.

A 27-year-old Homedale woman was driving east on Idaho Highway 19 when she struck a pedestrian at 5:54 a.m. near Dixie River Road, west of Caldwell, the Idaho State Police said in a news release.

The 47-year-old Nampa woman had been walking in the eastbound lanes, according to police.

Police said the pedestrian died from her injuries at the scene, while the driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Idaho State Police is investigating the incident. The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell Fire Department and Canyon County Paramedics assisted.

The Canyon County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name.
