A stretch of Idaho highway will be closed Wednesday. Drivers must plan alternate routes
U.S. Highway 20 will be closed Wednesday from Anderson Dam Road to Hill City, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.
Department crews will be working to remove built-up snow and overhangs, the department said in a news release. The stretch of road, which is on a popular route for people traveling between the Treasure Valley and Sun Valley-Ketchum, will be closed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to “protect workers and motorists.”
“We understand this is an important route for many travelers, and our goal is to keep it as safe as possible. Clearing this snow now will make the highway safer for everyone, especially with more snowfall expected as early as Thursday,” ITD foreman Gabe Sielaff said.
Drivers should plan alternate routes. Anyone traveling can check 511.idaho.gov for the latest road conditions before they head out.
Idaho Highway 21 is still closed from Grandjean to Banner Summit, according to ITD, because of avalanche danger. Road conditions there will be reassessed Wednesday morning.
