Ada County coroner identifies Meridian man who died Monday in accident on I-84
Officials have released the name of the Treasure Valley resident who died in an Interstate 84 accident Monday.
Idaho State Police said a man was standing along I-84 in Ada County when he was struck by a vehicle at about 2:30 a.m.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim Tuesday as Samson Edwards, 23, of Meridian.
Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:37 a.m., according to a news release from the coroner’s office.
Edwards was driving west on Interstate 84 when he rear-ended a Subaru Impreza, causing the Subaru to leave the road, police said. Edwards stopped his car in the roadway and exited his vehicle when a westbound Mitsubishi hit him near mile marker 42, according to police.
The coroner listed Edwards’ cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries and the manner of death as accidental.
No one else was taken to a hospital, police said.
Police closed three lanes on I-84 for about three hours following the crash.
