Boise police ask drivers to avoid area near Five Mile after pedestrian hit by car

Authorities asked motorists to avoid a West Boise intersection after a pedestrian was hit Sunday morning.

A vehicle driving north on South Five Mile Road struck a man in the roadway at about 7:10 a.m. near the West Bridgetower Drive intersection, the Boise Police Department said in a social media post.

The pedestrian was hospitalized with “serious injuries,” police said.

Police closed a short stretch of Five Mile between Estate Drive and West Saranac Drive and asked drivers to stay away from the area.

Police spokesperson Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman that officers were still processing the scene as of noon.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation, Williams said. The department asked anyone who witnessed the accident to call 208-377-6790.
