Officials have released the name of a man who died in a single-vehicle crash in Kuna on Saturday.

Evidence indicated the vehicle was heading west on West 4th Street when it left the roadway shortly before 12:30 a.m. near the North Ash Avenue intersection and struck a tree, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim Monday as 44-year-old Rocky Mahoney, of Nampa.

Officials pronounced him dead at the scene at 1:57 a.m. after life-saving measures were unsuccessful, according to the coroner’s news release.

The coroner listed blunt force injuries as Mahoney’s cause of death and the manner of death as accidental.

No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.

Tree collisions were the second-most harmful cause when it came to single-vehicle fatalities in 2023, according to Idaho Transportation Department statistics.
