Saturday’s annual Boise Holiday Parade closes multiple Boise roads. Here’s what to know
The annual Boise Holiday Parade is Saturday and it will necessitate a number of road closures to accommodate the two-hour event.
The road closures for the parade will last from 7 a.m. to noon, along Jefferson and Bannock streets between 3rd and 13th streets, said Rachel Bjornestad, spokesperson for the Ada County Highway District.
Likewise, all roads that intersect with the route — 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th streets — will be closed between Jefferson and Bannock during the parade.
“They will do what we call a rolling open, which means once the parade goes through then they’ll go ahead and open up those streets,” Bjornestad said. “So some streets might open a little bit sooner than others, but they should be all open by noon. The roads in between the parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic as well.”
The holiday parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
Bjornestad recommended alternative routes for community members to take during the parade.
“I would take Idaho (Street) or State (Street) to get around,” Bjornestad said in an interview. “If you’re going to be in downtown, make sure you’re giving yourself extra time to get there. It’s going to be pretty crowded, so make sure you’re watching for pedestrians, especially during the parade.”
Here is the parade route:
The holiday parade will begin at the corner of Jefferson and 8th streets. Participants will march along Jefferson Street and make a right on 4th Street, then make another right on Bannock Street. The parade will end at the corner of Bannock and 10th streets.
