Update: Driver in West Boise two-vehicle crash cited by police after running a red light
A portion of Fairview Avenue in West Boise was closed for about an hour Tuesday morning while officers investigated a crash, according to the Boise Police Department.
Officers were investigating a crash at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Mitchell Street around 10:30 a.m., according to a post by the police department on X, formerly known as Twitter. An image posted by the department showed at least two vehicles were involved in the crash with one of the vehicles flipped on its side.
A blue Jeep was traveling west on Fairview Avenue when the driver ran a red light and struck a gray van that was traveling across the street, which caused the vehicle to “roll over multiple times,” Haley Kramer, a Boise Police Department spokesperson, told the Idaho Statesman in an email Wednesday.
The driver of the Jeep was cited for inattention, and the van’s driver was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the hospital to be evaluated for a possible injury, Kramer added.
By 11:20 a.m. the road was reopened, according to an updated post.
