Idaho Highway 55 was shut down in both directions Thursday afternoon for the second time in as many days, the result of another fire, according to the Idaho Transportation Department website.

The “major closure” was near North McLeod Way at milepost 55, the ITD website said. That location is south of Horseshoe Bend and just north of Avimor, and Idaho 55 was closed between mile markers 51 and 54, the agency said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Idaho Transportation Department did not immediately return a request for further information.

On Wednesday, a fire north of Avimor near milepost 57 closed the highway in both directions.
