Update: Coroner identifies Eagle woman who died at scene of New Year’s Eve crash

A New Year’s Eve crash left one woman dead and another in the hospital after a collision near the border of Ada and Canyon counties.

A 78-year-old woman was driving a car north on Can-Ada Road on Sunday at the same time a 36-year-old woman was heading east on U.S. Highway 20/26, according to an Idaho State Police news release.

At the intersection of the two roads, the vehicles “made contact” with each other and “came to rest blocking both lanes” at 11:31 p.m., police said.

The 78-year-old died from her injuries at the scene, while the other driver was driven to a local hospital in a private vehicle, police said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Eagle resident Arlene Parrish. She was pronounced dead at 1:16 a.m. Monday after “lifesaving measure were unsuccessful,” according to the coroner’s report. The report listed Parrish’s cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries and her manner of death as accidental.

Police have not released the names of those involved.

Traffic lanes were blocked for more than three hours after the accident to allow “emergency responders to assist those involved,” police said.

Idaho State Police said they were continuing to investigate.
