Part of Interstate 84 will close between Meridian and Nampa. What to know

Part of Interstate 84 will be closed starting Wednesday.

The Idaho Transportation Department is asking nighttime motorists traveling between Meridian and Nampa to be aware of several lane closures, according to a news release. The construction is part of a planned interchange between I-84 and Idaho 16 that will connect the interstate to Emmett.

Two of the four westbound lanes between Ten Mile Road and Garrity Boulevard on I-84 will be closed between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, the release said. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph.

All four lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will be asked to exit off the interstate onto Franklin Road. Officials are expected to close eastbound lanes later this month.

“ITD wants to remind you to slow down, pay attention and drive engaged,” the department said in the news release.

Crews are expected to shift and re-stripe travel lanes away from the center median to make room to build a center pier to support the planned interchange, the release said.
