Ada County coroner identifies Meridian man who died in train-vehicle collision near Kuna

A Meridian man has been identified as the sole fatality in a car collision with a train near Kuna on Tuesday.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office said Gary Baker died after he was struck and killed by a train on Kuna-Mora Road just south of Eagle Road in Ada County. He was 67.

The coroner’s report said Baker died from traumatic blunt force injuries, and that it was an accident. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office previously said that Baker was going south on Kuna-More Road and crossed the tracks when the train struck his car.

Baker died at the scene, authorities said.

The Idaho Statesman previously reported that this was the second crash in three months that involved a train colliding with a car near Kuna. A previous driver was hospitalized in October after being struck by a train less than 6 miles away.
