Two Idaho vehicle crashes leave one person dead, two in hospital in less than 24 hours

Two singe-vehicle crashes in the Treasure Valley in a 24-hour period left one person dead and two more in the hospital, police said Monday.

A 28-year-old Parma man with a juvenile passenger was driving a truck east on U.S. 20 just north of Caldwell near Racetrack Drive sometime after 7:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Idaho State Police. He was passing slower traffic by using the opposite lane of travel, and when he merged back into the eastbound lane, the truck left the roadway and rolled.

Police reported that the driver died at the scene and the juvenile was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

On Sunday night at 11:33, a 32-year-old Heyburn woman and an 18-year old male passenger from Burley were headed west on Interstate 84 near Gowen Road in Ada County when she drove off the right shoulder, ISP said. The SUV hit a sign, causing it to roll and land upside down.

Both people in the SUV were able to walk to a local business to call for help, and an ambulance took the driver to a local hospital, police said.

Idaho State Police said they were investigating both incidents.
