Canyon County vehicle crashes send three people to hospital, Idaho police say

A pair of two-vehicle crashes in Canyon County on Tuesday sent three people to the hospital, according to Idaho State Police, which continues to investigate both accidents.

Idaho 19 crash

At 8:28 a.m. Tuesday, a 24-year-old from Caldwell driving a semitrailer was making a left turn from Munn Avenue onto Idaho Highway 19, a few miles west of Caldwell, when the truck was struck by a westbound SUV driven by a 22-year-old from Boise, police said.

“Due to fog in the area, there was low visibility,” according to an ISP news release.

The SUV broadsided the semi, and both vehicles stopped in the intersection, blocking all lanes of travel for about an hour, the release said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but the driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital. Information was not provided on their condition.

Ustick Road crash

At around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 53-year-old Caldwell man driving a pickup truck on Weitz Road failed to stop at a stop sign and struck an SUV being driven by a 56-year-old Caldwell woman, according to a police news release.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Weitz and Ustick roads, west of Caldwell.

The woman in the SUV was wearing a seat belt and the man in the pickup was not; both were taken to the hospital, and the intersection was blocked for around three hours, police said.

The extent of the drivers’ injuries was not known.
