Two people are dead after a head-on collision west of Nampa. Here’s what happened

Two people are dead after a head-on collision Saturday on Idaho 55, west of Nampa, according to Idaho State Police.

A few minutes after 10 a.m., a 20-year-old woman from Caldwell was driving north near Hoskins Road, west of Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, when she crossed the median, according to a police release. She collided with a pickup truck being driven by a 63-year-old man from Marsing.

Both drivers died at the scene, the release stated. The young woman, who was in a 2013 Ford Focus, was wearing a seat belt, while the man, driving a 2017 Nissan Frontier, was not.

The road was blocked for about three hours, police said. The crash is still under investigation.
