Local Knights of Columbus Council asks for donations of medical equipment

Risen Christ Knights of Columbus Council 12854 has put out the call for donations of gently-used and new medical equipment, as well as cash donations to repair them.

This year, the group has loaned medical equipment (free of charge) to close to 1,500 local people.

The group has a shortage of items like shower chairs, transfer benches with backs, knee walkers, electric lift chairs, bedside commodes, 18-inch medium wheelchairs and larger 22- to 24-inch wheelchairs and more.

Cash donations will pay for batteries, parts for repairs and other itmes.

The Knights of Columbus will pick up donated medical equipment (which is also tax-deductible) at donors' homes or businesses free of charge.

Those who are interested in borrowing equipement can stop by 3100 E. Hubbard Rd. in Meridian on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Borrowers will be asked to return equipment when they're done so others can use it.

Call Dale Anderson at 888-3782 for more.
