Do your best Spider-Man or Wonder Woman; stand up to child abuse at Idaho Superhero Walk

Hey kids, do you have a sweet Spider-Man, Black Panther or Wonder Woman costume that needs more time in public than just Halloween? Then shake out those capes and dust off the red boots, and prepare to unite with fellow Idaho superheroes for an extremely important cause: putting an end to child abuse and neglect.

The annual Superhero Walk is returning to the Treasure Valley on Saturday to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Come proudly dressed as your favorite superhero for a march to raise awareness to child abuse in the Boise area. No costume? No problem. Just wear blue.

The walk will begin at 1 p.m. at the Caldwell Police Department, 110 S. 5th Ave. Families, and officers from the Nampa Police Department as well, will walk through downtown Caldwell and finish up at the Canyon County Courthouse.

On the front lawn of the courthouse, participants will plant a garden of blue pinwheels, the national symbol for child abuse prevention. The pinwheels are provided to everyone at no cost and will remain on the lawn throughout April — a sign to inspire others in the ongoing battle to recognize and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Afterward, everyone will gather at Justice Park for an Easter egg hunt and free hot dogs, chips and water.

Donations are welcome and support the Nampa Family Justice Center, which “promotes safety, self-sufficiency, hope and healing to those affected by abuse,” according to its Facebook.
