Let’s keep Boise and Idaho beautiful, folks. Trash Club seeks volunteers for cleanup
Take a look along our country roads, city parks and downtown streets and you’ll find the usual roundup of trash — candy wrappers and soda cans, mangled-up Skoal containers and beer bottles.
And the past couple of years, you know what I’ve come across frequently, besides a boost in White Claw cans? Face masks, of course.
They. Are. Everywhere. Can’t walk the pups without running into at least one discarded mask in the park. And don’t get me started about store parking lots. I step over several during that short trek from the car to the grocery.
So just another thing to impact the cleanliness of our communities and endanger wildlife. Great.
For those interested in taking action and rallying around a safe, healthy environment, community trash cleanups are an important start.
This proactive approach is a major focus of Trash Club, a Boise-based nonprofit with the “mission of keeping Boise and the Treasure Valley litter free through litter pickups and community education,” according to its website.
So if you’re passionate about putting trash in its place, volunteer during the next cleanup, which is 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. March 26 at the Grove Plaza, 827 W. Main St., Boise. Meet in front of Idaho Central Arena, where the Steelheads play.
Register for free at eventbrite.com and search “Downtown Boise Litter Cleanup.”
Volunteers will be provided trash bags, trash grabbers, gloves and hand sanitizer. Just bring water and wear comfortable shoes.
If that date doesn’t work for you, view a list of all upcoming trash pickups at trashclubusa.org/getinvolved.
