Girl Scout Cookie season is upon us, which means the majority of us are indulging in a Thin Mint or two with a glass of milk after dinner. Or, let’s be real, throwing back an entire sleeve with absolutely zero guilt.

As you eat the crumbs of Samoas off your shirt, have you ever thought about experimenting with your favorite cookie and crumbling it on top of some ice cream or baking pieces into brownies? A dessert meshing with your favorite Girl Scout Cookie sounds pretty heavenly.

But if you lack that creative edge, no biggie. Leave it up to the pros.

Boise-based Girl Scouts of Silver Sage is once again hosting its Great Girl Scout Cookie Kickoff, but this year the competition is in person for the first time. That’s right, no virtual voting. Revel in all those sugary whiffs, my friends.

The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St., Boise.

Idaho pastry chefs and bakers from The Lively, Crave Kitchen & Bar, Hudson Baking Co., Flourish Bakery and Under the Table/One Stone will engage in a friendly competition to earn the Top Cookie title by making a Girl Scout selection to create a winning dessert.

Sweet tooths will be satiated as guests sample and vote for their favorite concoction, such as the Coconut and Lemon-Ups Mousse Cake prepared from The Lively or the Thin Mints macaroons from Under the Table/One Stone.

The People’s Choice winner will be determined by audience vote. The Top Cookie 2022 will be selected by an all-female panel: “Sheli Gartman, founder and CEO of Women Ignite, Christina Maag, founder of Hoopla, and Sabrina Vaillancourt, the winner of last year’s virtual cookie competition and owner of The Measuring Spoon Baking Co.,” according to a news release.

Tickets are $40 per person or two for $75. All proceeds go to support local Girl Scout programs.

“My team and I are so excited to enter this year’s Top Cookie event,” Adan Callsen of Under the Table said in a press release. “We are looking forward to the challenge it presents in reinterpreting something so iconic as the Girl Scout Cookie. The competition also provides us with an opportunity to collaborate with students from One Stone. We are proud to be part of this event supporting Girl Scouts of Silver Sage and their entrepreneurial program.”
