Your evergreen tree could be the perfect Christmas gift for the city of Nampa
Do you have a large evergreen tree that is no longer meshing with your landscape vision? Nampa will gladly take it off your hands — or more specifically, your property.
The Nampa Parks and Forestry departments are seeking a live pine or spruce tree, 40 feet or taller, for the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which is scheduled for Nov. 27 in downtown Nampa.
To have your tree considered, it must be an evergreen located within Nampa city limits (or very close to) and be easily accessible to main roads, with no overhead obstructions. No backyard trees will work.
If your tree checks all of the necessary boxes, get it on the donation list. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 15.
The city forester will be responsible for reviewing and selecting a tree from that list to be the lucky Christmas tree.
The preferred tree will be removed for free (includes stump grinding) and transported to Nampa to be decorated for the upcoming holiday season.
For questions or tree donations, call the parks department at 208-468-5890.
