Virtual art auction, concert benefit Women’s and Children’s Alliance. Bid on an RBG print
The annual We Art Women fundraiser was originally scheduled for Oct. 8 at the Art Source Gallery.
And if you predict my next sentence will mention “COVID” and “virtual,” then you get a freshly sanitized fist bump, my friend.
Yep, this in-person event will be added to the ever-growing list of those going virtual due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
This year’s We Art Women — a celebration of the arts for women, by women — will be held online from Thursday, Oct. 22, through Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Participate in the silent auction of 8 x 8 panel art, the juried-show artwork and other pieces donated by our community, but from the comfort of your own couch. (In your sweatpants should you choose. Woo!)
Bidding will start at 5 p.m. each day and end at 9 p.m. Some of the items include “original art from Zella Bardsley, a basket of awesome from the Flying M, a framed Ruth Bader Ginsburg print by Laurel Macdonald, as well as one fabulous Fendi luxury boutique bag,” according to a press release.
This year, all proceeds will be allocated for children’s services (shelter, counseling, licensed child care) at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, a social service organization in Boise that “offers safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault.”
“The work the WCA does helping women doesn’t stop. In this time of uncertainty, we can’t stop either,” explains Lauren Kistner, of We Art Women. “Rocci Johnson has again brought together an incredible lineup of musicians, and our visual artists have offered an arsenal of exceptional artwork to exhibit, bid on, and purchase for this year’s event to support our local community..”
In addition to the virtual auction, a virtual concert will air at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. Enjoy performances by Amy Rose; Cherie Buckner-Webb; Leta Neustaedter; Kathy Miller; Margaret Stigers; Rebecca Scott and Deb Sager; Rochelle Smith and Jenn Snyder; Catherine Merrick and aka Belle; Lindsey Hunt; Emily Stanton; Gretch N Rogers; The Rocci Johnson Band; and others.
There also will be several guest appearances, including by Boise Mayor Lauren McLean.
