Join the fight against breast cancer virtually at this year’s Boise Race for the Cure
It’s just gonna be that kind of year, where in-person events turn virtual in order to protect the community’s health and safety during COVID-19 — especially those events that attract mass participants.
Add Boise Race for the Cure to that growing list.
You can now take part in the fight against breast cancer on your own terms. Choose when you run, where you run and how far. Run or walk with friends and family (small groups encouraged), or solo. It’s entirely your call.
Additionally, all registered participants will be invited to drive through the Race Expo Parade anytime from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Albertsons corporate office, 250 E. ParkCenter Blvd., Boise. During the parade, pick up your race T-shirt, awards, and items from sponsors and vendors without even getting out of your vehicle.
“We believe we can preserve the sense of community through this new virtual fundraising race and Race Expo Parade,” said Jodi Weak, executive director for Susan G. Komen Idaho Montana, in a press release. “The added benefit of this new virtual experience is that people who previously couldn’t attend in-person due to their health will now be able to participate and be part of the community of hope.”
There will not be a survivor tent this year; however, there will be an opportunity to get your photo taken at the end of the parade route.
Feel free to decorate your car for the Race Expo Parade and come dressed in your best pink attire to celebrate with fellow survivors in a manner that follows social distancing and safety protocols.
Registration will be available online through Aug. 23. Fees are $25 for adults and survivors/forever fighters, $20 for youth, and $35 for virtual participation.
Runners/walkers are also encouraged to do their own fundraising. All donations on your behalf that are received by Sept. 30 will count toward your total.
Funds raised continue to benefit Susan G. Komen Idaho Montana’s breast cancer research and patient support efforts.
