Kristin’s Farm Stand brings the market to your Boise-area door with home delivery
Remember this time last year when we would be hittin’ up the farmers markets — sans face masks — to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, local meats, breads and other goodies? Yeah, good times.
The coronavirus pandemic has without a doubt put a damper on in-person browsing, but doesn’t mean we still can’t score organic foods.
Although the farmers market season did get pushed back, it slowly managed to pop up. The Meridian Main Street Market and the Nampa Farmers Market are both open on Saturdays, and the Farm to Fork Market on Tuesdays.
The Boise Farmers Market adapted to our “new normal” due to the COVID-19 crisis and opened with a drive-thru option back in April. But the time slots to pick up your online order do fill up extremely fast.
So for those who can’t seem to reserve a spot quickly enough or are still wary of shopping near others, there is another option.
Kristin’s Farm Stand Boise offers online ordering and home delivery, bringing the farmers market to your doorstep.
The small farm based just outside of Malta is relatively new, established in 2019 by Kristin Varela-Schild and her husband Chris Schild, who started farming in Colorado back in 2011.
A health scare with their oldest daughter in 2016, coupled with wanting to truly trust their food source, resulted in the launch of “a direct-to-consumer regenerative farm concept, raising pasture-raised proteins and safe produce, then delivering incredibly fresh and nutrient-dense foods straight from their farm direct to customers’ homes,” according to a press release from the Schilds.
The farm is located on the Idaho/Utah state line (about 2.5 hours south of Boise) but delivers to Boise and the surrounding area.
