Churches, businesses help others during coronavirus crisis, and they need our help
COVID-19 has separated us from our loved ones, friends and co-workers, but oddly enough, it has also brought us together in some ways.
The kindness and generosity of individuals and businesses during these uncertain times has been uplifting — a much-needed light of hope in the darkness of the coronavirus pandemic.
And as the opportunities to help out pour in and the feel-good stories pop up among the coronavirus headlines, it’s a wonderful reminder that we can continue to thrive.
So many examples of going above and beyond are present in our community. Here are a few:
▪ The St. Vincent de Paul Overland food pantry continues to serve individuals and families by implementing a drive-thru system open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As you can imagine, the pantry is serving many more clients than usual right now and is in need of both financial donations and volunteers.

▪ Team Mazda Subaru in Caldwell is offering free oil changes to first responders and health care professionals.
Police officers, firefighters, nurses, doctors and other health care workers can schedule an appointment by calling 208-455-0322.
The service, which includes up to five quarts of standard oil and a filter, expires April 30 and applies to personal and family vehicles, up to two per household.
The dealership is also offering pick-up and delivery service to the home or place of employment, as long as it’s within a 15-mile radius of Team Mazda Subaru (6218 E. Cleveland Blvd.).
▪ Dutch Bros Coffee will dedicate 100 percent of April profits to medical first responders through #FirstRespondersFirst, which “provides critical supplies, equipment, and resources to frontline health care workers.”
That goes for not only drive-thru purchases, but also online orders.
Dutch Bros is no stranger to givebacks, organizing multiple programs each year.
“Givebacks are part of our DNA,” says Travis Boersma, CEO of Dutch Bros. “We’re thankful to be able to support and serve our communities right now.”
