Idaho Gives, which benefits nonprofits, going from one day to 2 weeks of online giving

Idaho Gives, the annual statewide online fundraising effort coordinated by the Idaho Nonprofit Center, usually takes place on a single day. But like everything else, the COVID-19 outbreak has prompted a change.

So this year, Idaho Gives will run for two full weeks, from April 23 to May 7.

The coronavirus crisis has put an increased financial burden on nonprofits, so “the extension will allow those nonprofits more time to engage with, and gain much-needed support from donors,” according to a press release.

“We know that Idaho Gives is even more important for nonprofits during the COVID-19 panic,” explained Amy Little, Idaho Nonprofit Center president and CEO. “And we want to do everything we can to make it financially beneficial for them at this time.”

Due to the pandemic, the in-person events typically organized for Idaho Gives will be replaced with virtual events.

The giving process hasn’t changed, other than donors will have plenty of time to visit idahogives.org to search, support and donate to Idaho nonprofits they care about the most. You can also donate by phone at 1-877-ID-Gives (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday).

The campaign opens at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, and closes May 7 (midnight).

Last year, 12,336 donors gave $1,958,642.74 to 589 organizations and pushed the total amount of money donated since Idaho Gives started in 2013 past $7 million.
