Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics Idaho canceled, but pledges still count

It’s that time of year when fun runs and other recreational activities generally take place to bring the community together and support good causes.

But like everything else enjoyable, social and important, the new coronavirus has put a halt to these activities.

The Penguin Plunge, originally scheduled for April 11, has been canceled due to the closure of Eagle Island State Park.

The annual icy dip that has you “freezin’ for a reason” raises money and awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Idaho, an organization that “provides training and athletic competitions, year-round, free of charge, to all with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.”

Even though the teeth-chattering dunk has been canceled, pledges had already rolled in. So supporters are encouraged to continue raising pledges, as all donated money will count toward incentive prizes.
