How would you like to snowshoe under Boise’s tranquil night sky while helping to raise money for Type 1 diabetes research?

I know — sign me up, right?

The annual Starlight Snowshoe Benefit is coming up on Saturday, Feb. 29, celebrating its 16th year as a “homegrown Boise event.” Take in the crisp air and stunning views from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bogus Basin Nordic Lodge, 2600 N. Bogus Basin Road.

A lighted path will guide you on your snowshoe journey under a blanket of stars.

Then head back to the lodge for eats, drinks and music. Enjoy multiple trips to a food buffet (while supplies last) and listen to live music with the Sisters in Songwriting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There will also be a raffle.

Presented by Tandem Diabetes and SCORE Outdoors, the event benefits the nonprofit organization JDRF to “fight against Type 1 diabetes by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for those impacted by T1D.” This year’s event is also sponsored by Coyote Prosthetics and Orthotics.

To date, more than $150,000 has been raised for diabetes research through the Starlight Snowshoe Benefit.

Tickets are $20 general and $12 for children younger than 12. Or pay $62 for a family up to two adults and three kids. Prices include fitting and use of snowshoes and trails, as well as the buffet.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance at 2020starlightsnowshoe.eventbrite.com.
