Tackle the elements at Freezeout Challenge run to benefit Emmett Baseball Association
If you are looking to get started early this year on training or if you just enjoy a good chilly trail run, swap out your boots for sneakers this weekend at the Freezeout Challenge.
The event is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, and starts and finishes at the Gem County Fairgrounds, 2199 S. Johns Ave., Emmett.
Two courses will be offered: a 12k loop and a 6k shorter option. You’ll see your breath during both, but the 6k course will leave out the trek on Freezeout Hill.
Registration is $38 for the 12k and $33 for the 6k. And beanies with the Freezeout Challenge logo will be given away.
The 10th annual run is a fundraiser for the Emmett Baseball Association, which “not only manages funding for the summer and fall Emmett Legion Baseball programs, but it also assists with the management of the Emmett High School baseball programs and individual scholarship/sponsorship opportunities for those who can’t afford to play the game.”
Maps of each course as well as registration information can be found at cityoftreesmarathon.com/freezeout-challenge. You can also register at bluecirclesports.com.
