Treat dad to food, cars on Father’s Day
With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, you don’t have to scramble about for that last-minute gift.
Ditch the boring tie and get dad what he really wants: time with you.
Round up the gang and get pops out of the house for some food, fun and family QT.
Here are a couple of options:
▪ A Father’s Day Weekend Classic Car Show is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Touchmark at Meadow Lake Village Golf Course, 4037 E. Clocktower Lane, Meridian.
The show-and-shine event celebrates fathers and their families with classic cars and a barbecue lunch. Also, enter a prize drawing to win a Traeger grill.
Sink your teeth into pork ribs ($7), pulled pork sandwiches ($4) and hot dogs ($2), all served with cole slaw, chips and fruit. And cool off with ice cream cones for a buck.
The event raises funds for the Wyakin Foundation, an independent Idaho-based nonprofit that enables wounded, ill and injured veterans to achieve personal and professional success.
Free to attend. For more information, go to TouchmarkMeridian.com/CarShow.
▪ A Father’s Day Barbecue and Hike is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at The Bishops’ House, 2420 Old Penitentiary Road, Boise.
The shady green yard is the ideal spot to feast on food provided by Goodwood Barbecue.
Work up an appetite with a self-guided tour of the trail prior to lunch or choose to explore it after.
The cost is $15 general and $10 for children.
All proceeds benefit The Friends of The Bishops’ House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the historic home.

Dust off the hog for a benefit ride
Help Up Foundation is hosting a Rescue Ride for the Vets on Saturday, June 17, at Quinn’s Restaurant, 1005 S. Vista Ave., Boise.
Registration is from 10 to 11:15 a.m., with kickstands up at 11:30 a.m.
The ride starts from Quinn’s and visits Crooked Fence Barrelhouse, Rudy’s, Sully’s Bar and ends at Victor’s Hogs and Horns. Each stop includes games, including but not limited to darts, horseshoes and a bean bag toss.
Cost is $20 per rider or $30 for two-up (rider and passenger). Donate three canned goods and get $5 off your registration.
The third annual event is a fundraiser for the Boise Rescue Mission Veterans Ministry Program, which provides transitional living to homeless veterans and is focused on connecting those veterans with resources to help them maintain independence and enjoy a productive life.
The mission also works with the Boise Office of Veterans Affairs (VA) and organizations like Help Up Foundation, which provides innovative and effective programs to support veterans.
