Crews from the Eagle Fire Department and Star Fire Protection District responded to a brush fire near Idaho 16 and Beacon Light Road on Monday afternoon, according to first responder apps and social media posts.

The vegetation fire, which started around 3:30 p.m., grew to around 100 acres shortly after it was first reported, according to the wildfire reporting app Watch Duty. That’s about twice the size of Boise’s Esther Simplot Park.

Watch Duty reporter Patricia Jacobs said first responders reported that no structures were threatened. The fire was burning near farmland, but subdivisions lie immediately southwest. There are also other scattered homes and businesses, including Bud’s Marketplace gas station, nearby.

In a post on Facebook, the Eagle Fire Department asked people to avoid the area of Highway 16 and Hartley Road. Just after 4:45 p.m., the smoke from the fire had lessened greatly as crews and engines continued to work to contain it.
