West Ada superintendent candidate to meet with public

Mary Ann Ranells, a candidate for West Ada School District superintendent, will meet in a community forum at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 1303 E. Central Drive.

The meeting will be in the Salmon Room.

Ranells will be in the West Ada District beginning Monday for tours of district schools, meeting with staff and an interview with trustees.

Ranells, an educator for 41 years, was a deputy superintendent of public instruction under Marilyn Howard from 2001 to 2004. She has been a superintendent in North Idaho and worked as a director of curriculum, assessment and special education.

Trustees said Ranells approached them while they were attending the Idaho School Boards Association meeting in Coeur d' Alene last month, after trustees posted the job at the gathering.

Ranells is well known and well respected in Idaho education circles.

Trustee announced last week they were bringing her to the district for interviews after reviewing applications for the job.
