West Ada recall of 4 trustees won’t make March ballot
Efforts to recall four West Ada School Board trustee won't show up on the March 8 election ballot.
Christine Donnell, co-chair of The Concerned Citizens of West Ada School District for Trustee Recall, said her organization does not have enough signatures to turn in petitions seeking a recall in time for the March election. The group is aiming for May.
Daryl Sallaz, a former Boise School District history teacher, who is leading the effort to recall a fifth trustee, did not return phone calls.
Donnell, former West Ada School District superintendent, launched the recall effort after trustees voted to lob a year off then-superintendent Linda Clark's three year contract. She is seeking recall of Russell Joki, Julie Madsen, Carol Sayles and board chair Tina Dean.
Sallaz is working toward recall of Mike Vuittonet, who chaired the meeting at which Clark's contract was approved. The present board said that meeting violated the state's open meetings statute. Vuittonet opposed the new board's decision.
Phil McGrane, Ada County chief deputy clerk, has said he needed the petitions by Dec. 11 to meet a series of other deadlines for the recall to make the March 8 ballot.
