Boise State University students will have to get used to calling one building on campus by a new moniker.

The school announced Friday that it will rename the Student Union Building to the Boise State University Westmark Student Union Building.

The Idaho State Board of Education approved the name change after Idaho-based Westmark Credit Union agreed to contribute more than $8.5 million dollars over 10 years to the university, according to a news release from the school.

Boise State said it plans to use those funds to “improve the Student Union Building, enriching the daily experience of students, and to support high-impact student-serving programs and initiatives.”

“This partnership advances our mission to elevate financial well-being by meeting people where they are — providing accessible financial guidance, education, and tools that support real-life decisions,” Mike Schenck, Westmark Credit Union president and CEO, said in a statement.
