West Ada superintendent will receive a 20% raise. Here’s how much he’ll make next year
The superintendent in the West Ada School District will earn more than $200,000 per year after the school board approved a 20% raise in his contract.
Trustees in April approved the contract for Superintendent Derek Bub, which will run from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2025. Bub will receive a salary of $210,000 in the first year, and incremental increases “at least equal to that paid to other administrators” for each of the following years.” Bub previously earned $175,000.
The contract was approved as part of the board’s consent agenda in April. The increase was first reported by IdahoEdNews.
Certified staff in the district are expected to receive an average increase of 6.28% in their salaries, according to negotiations with the West Ada Education Association.
Bub became the West Ada superintendent in July after the board selected him in April 2021. Before starting the position, he had been an educator for more than 20 years and worked as the principal at Centennial High School.
Bub said last year his priorities included engaging the community and making the West Ada School District stand out not just in Idaho, but to become a “notable district” in the region and across the country.
