A Nampa man admitted to police that he repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old , according to an affidavit filed as part of a court case against him.

Fernando Morales, 49, was arrested Wednesday and is charged with felony sexual battery of a minor child. Thursday, he remained in the Canyon County Jail on $250,000 bond; a no-contact order has also been filed.

After the teen girl reported the incidents to the Nampa Police Department, Morales initially denied, but ultimately admitted to the assaults. He told a Nampa officer that starting “about last June or July” he and the girl had been having sex two or three times a week. He also told police he took videos of them having sex.

Morales’ criminal history listed him as a deported felon, according to the affidavit. Along with the bond, the Canyon County Jail lists an immigration hold placed on him.

He told investigators he moved to Idaho from Texas about a month ago, and had only been at his current residence for about two weeks. According to the affidavit, he provided police with a New Mexico identification card and “an old Texas CDL photo.”

Morales is next scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 7 in Canyon County Court. At that type of hearing, a judge determines if there’s enough evidence for a case to advance to district court and a full trial.
