Boise man sent to prison for raping acquaintance

William N. Mukendi, 32, was sentenced Tuesday to two to 15 years in prison.

An Ada County jury found Mukendi guilty in March of a charge of rape where the victim resists but the resistance is overcome by force or violence.

Ada County District Judge Richard Greenwood fined Mukendi $546 and signed an order prohibiting him from contacting the victim in the case.

Mukendi was arrested at his home in November 2014, following a four-month investigation by Boise police.

Police said Mukendi raped a 21-year-old acquaintance in July 2014. Mukendi, also known as William Mutombo, pinned the woman down after she resisted his attempts, police said.
