Caldwell police arrest man, woman in double DUI
A man and woman, both from Caldwell, were arrested on charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest in Caldwell at around 7:20 p.m. Friday after crashing the car in the 200 block of W. Elgin.
A Caldwell Police Department officer found Matthew Walsh, 24, trying to back a Honda out from the fence it had crashed into. Witnesses, however, said it was Diane Johnson, 49, who had crashed the car initially. Both were found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The witnesses also said they had seen the car driving through the neighborhood at excessive speeds, almost hitting children playing nearby, police said.
Walsh was charged with DUI. Johnson was charged with excessive DUI and failure to provide insurance. Both Walsh and Johnson were charged with resisting arrest.The pair are being held at the Canyon County Jail, according to a CPD press release.
Police said Walsh physically resisted arrest and was taken into custody following the use of pepper spray by an officer. Johnson attempted to leave the scene of the crime after being told she was being detained, police said.
