A 30-year-old California man was jailed in Ada County Tuesday on charges that he struck Kuna man in the face with a handgun and then shot at the man's truck as he tried to get away.

Charles Robert Eddy also faces a felony charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and malicious injury to property, the Ada County Sheriff's Office reports..

Deputies began their investigation around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday after a fight was reported at a home in the 3700 block of E. Kuna Road. Deputies found a man with facial injuries and determined he had been hit in the face with a handgun, according to an ACSO news release. Eddy is accused of pulling a handgun from the other man's waistband during an argument, then hitting him with it.

Investigators believe Eddy used the handgun to shoot at the man's truck, hitting a rear tire as he drove away. A short time later, Eddy reportedly got into his vehicle and began driving back to California, heading west on Interstate 84, the sheriff's office reports.

Deputies pulled Eddy's car over near Nampa and arrested him, ACSO reports. They reportedly found two grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the car. Deputies recovered the gun involved in the argument, according to the news release.

Eddy is set to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon. The crime of aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
