Shooting lands one Canyon County man in hospital, another in jail

A 51-year-old Nampa man was shot in the leg at a Caldwell home Monday afternoon, and a Caldwell man was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies were called to a house in the 2600 block of Ustick Road around 3:45 p.m. and were told the two men, who don't live at the house, had an argument that ended in gunfire, according to the sheriff’s office. Both the victim and assailant left the area before deputies arrived.

The victim took himself to the emergency room at Caldwell's West Valley Medical Center, and police later arrested the suspected shooter, 20-year-old Tanner Lee Ford. Deputies say they recovered a gun believed to have been used in the incident “and there is no continuing risk to the public.”

The shooting is still under investigation. Ford was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
